Immersive Opera: KABUKI x Pagliacci

March 7–8 · Konno Hachiman Shrine, Shibuya

Italian opera Pagliacci and kabuki classic Sukeroku merge in a live performance staged inside a 1,000-year-old shrine in central Shibuya. There is no fixed stage. The audience follows performers through the shrine grounds and steps into the climax. Doors open 12:30, performance runs 13:00–14:30. Note: second-release ticket holders cannot move indoors if it rains.

Ichie Art Performance vol.2

March 29 · waku / Porter’s Paints Showroom, Kawasaki

Dancers, musicians, and a costume artist improvise together in a small gallery space to create a live, unrepeatable experience. Two sessions: afternoon at 14:00 and evening at 18:00. The cast includes performers active across 25 countries, a composer from the Olympic opening ceremony, and a costume designer who sculpts wearable forms from single PVC sheets.

Original Incense Blending Workshop

March 14 · Tera Cafe Chaniwa, Nishi-ku

Blend sandalwood, cinnamon bark, clove, and other aromatic woods into your own portable, flame-free incense. Each session walks you through the properties and uses of each ingredient before you mix and take home your creation in a handmade tatami-edged case. A drink is included. Limited to 10 participants.

Oedo English Rakugo Show in Osaka, 19th Edition

March 20 · Dotonbori Museum Namikiza, Chuo-ku

Six English-language Rakugo performances bring 400 years of Japanese storytelling to an international audience. The lineup covers classic tales including Time Noodles, The God of Death, and Foolish Neighbors, performed by members of the English Rakugo Association. Runs 13:30 to 15:30. Cash only at the door.

Discover Noh in Kyoto: Yuya / Kiyomizu

March 8 · Matsubara Bridge to Kongo Noh Theatre

Walk the path Yuya takes to Kiyomizu Temple in The Tale of the Heike. Starting at the Kamo River, the guided walk covers 1.5 km before ending at a live Noh performance at the Kongo Noh Theatre. Limited to 8 guests. Student tickets are heavily discounted. A portion of proceeds funds access programs for young people.

Kyoto Crafts Exhibition DIALOGUE 2026

March 13–14 · Hotel Kanra Kyoto, Shimogyo-ku

Now in its 9th edition, DIALOGUE turns the guest rooms and restaurants of Hotel Kanra Kyoto into exhibition and sales spaces for traditional craft makers. March 13 and 14 are open to the general public. Your JPY 1,000 admission includes a JPY 500 shopping voucher to use on the day.

Enoshima Lolita: Illustrator min² Exhibition

March 6–9 · UMIYAMA GALLERY, Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden, Fujisawa

Fujisawa-based illustrator min², known for SHIBUYA109 key visuals, shows new works inside an all-glass gallery at the top of Enoshima island. Every piece was made for this exhibition, pairing local Shonan scenery with Lolita fashion. The garden setting, built around Meiji-era greenhouse ruins, is worth the trip on its own. Open 11:00–19:00 daily.

ShimaCos 2026 Spring: Shima Spain Village Cosplay

March 15 · Parque Espana, Shima, Mie

Produced by the World Cosplay Summit, this event fills a Spanish-themed amusement park with anime, manga, and game cosplay. Changing rooms, a performance stage, and the full park are open to participants throughout the day. Runs 9:30–17:30.

VCM Vintage Market Vol.8

March 28–29 · Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall C, Yokohama

Over 150 vintage shops from across Japan gather for two days at Pacifico Yokohama, drawing more than 10,000 visitors each edition. This year includes a limited collaboration bandana designed by N.HOOLYWOOD’s Daisuke Obana, available with advance tickets while supplies last. Advance entry starts at 9:30, general admission at 10:00.

Nissan Festival Vol.10

March 29 · Tsukuba Circuit Course 2000, Ibaraki

The 10th edition of this annual circuit event celebrates Nissan classics and JDM culture at Tsukuba. This year adds drift demonstrations to the track lineup. Food trucks and merchandise are on site. Children enter free with a paying guardian.
